“Verynile” is an organization that raises awareness through events, its goal is to clean the Nile water and it does so with the cooperation of other initiatives that have the same environmental goals, such as greenish.

Every month, dozens of volunteers spend the day on shore cleaning or on boats to remove the trash from the Nile. And yesterday was one of those days; they organized a cleaning expedition and many volunteers took part in. The event helped in collecting around 1.5 tons of garbage from both the shore and the Nile itself.

Those boat rides are done in cooperation with fishermen who help clean the water every day, “Verynile” provide them with extra revenue for each kilo of trash that they remove from the water. During the process, fishermen are asked to take pictures of the trash they remove.

They offer a really cool way for collecting donations on their website, they sell bracelets that are made of recycled plastic pearls, the thread is made of recycled nets and it’s Egyptian made. For every bracelet that they sell, they commit to cleaning 1 kilo of trash from the Nile which aligns with their motto “cleaning the Nile, 1 kilo at a time.”

India: The Tallest Statue In The World

India has unveiled the world’s tallest statue, which cost 29.9bn rupees (£330m; $430m) to build.

The 182m (600ft) high structure in the western state of Gujarat is a bronze-clad tribute to independence leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the “statue of unity” would serve as a major tourist attraction, but locals say this is as a waste of public money and that the funds could have been put to better use.

Air Force planes showered flowers on the statue, which was designed by decorated Indian sculptor Ram V Sutar. The statue is nearly twice as tall as New York’s Statue of Liberty. And it has surpassed the height of the Spring Temple Buddha in China which, at 128m, was previously the tallest in the world. Check out stunning footage of the statue in the video below:
